According to Advocating for Justice, Advocacy is an intentional act of witness by the body of Christ that hold people and institutions accountable for creating, implementing, and sustaining just and good policies and practices geared toward the flourishing of society. This definition highlights the central role local Churches and Christians can play in advocacy.
There are three essential advocacy methods we adopt. We advocate for Immigrants affected by injustice, with Immigrants affected by injustice, and by Immigrants affected by injustice when it comes to Immigration issues in order to hold people and institutions accountable for creating, implementing, and sustaining just and good policies and practices geared toward the flourishing of society.
Ways we advocate:
Petitions. We formulate petitions in order to gain support around Immigration issues and urge Congress and Senators to pass bipartisan solutions that help society flourish. Example petition HERE.
Op-eds. We write op-eds for the local Newspaper and different organizations on Immigration issues from a biblical perspective. Example Op-ed HERE.
Social Media. We leverage the rise and growth of social media through our Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter accounts to advocate for Immigrants affected by injustice, with Immigrants affected by injustice, and by Immigrants affected by injustice
Legislative Meetings. We meet with Congressman and Senators either in person or by phone encouraging them to create, implement, and sustain just and good policies and practices geared toward the flourishing of society. We DO NOT, however, lobby or encourage legislators to support or vote for specific bills. We simply want legislators to pass bipartisan bills that line up with Scripture.
